In a news report by Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), Olugbade Adegoke, the elder brother of Timothy Adegoke, the MBA student of OAU who was found dead near Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, eight days after he was declared missing has explained how he escaped kidnapping attempt in Eruwa.
Naija Banquet gathered that the incident happened around 9:30 pm on Saturday at Eruwa, Oyo State.
Olugbade who has been at the vanguard of the struggle for justice for brother who died mysteriously explained that some men of the Western Nigeria Security Network code named Amotekun who happened to be stationed near the location of the incident rescued him that night.
“Around that time, I left home to quickly get provisions. The moment I got what I needed, and emerged from the store, I saw that a car had now been parked very close to the store. the car was not there before I went into the store”;
“As they were chasing me, I started screaming. I was too scared to know their number, but they were not less than three. They were screaming, “That’s him! That’s him!”

“The moment the men sighted the Amotekun officers, they jumped back into the car they came in and sped off”, he told FIJ.
Naija Banquet gathered that the Amotekun unit and Police division in Eruwa jointly assigned their officers to Olugbade for protection on Saturday night.
“Thank God we were able to come to his rescue during the incident. We also offer him joint protection, together with the Nigeria Police, on the Night of the incident,” said Adesina Sunday, the sector commander of Amotekun in Eruwa.
Adesina also added that an officer had been assigned to Olugbade for protection starting from November 13, a decision reached after a meeting he had with his superiors on the incident that claimed the life of Olugbade’s brother.
