The masterminds behind the Igangan killing spree have been revealed.

The traditional ruler of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye has accused the evicted Seriki Fulani Soliu Abdulkadri for sponsoring the midnight attack on Igangan which claimed several lives and properties in the wee hours of Sunday.

The monarch made this revelation while featuring on the Ibadan-based Fresh FM programme—The Situation Room—on Monday.

According to him, “It was Seriki Fulani that was evicted from this land that came to attack us. He sent those people that collect money to fight wars to attack us on Saturday. They entered the town around 11 pm;

“We didn’t have any information to that effect. We’ve been trying our best and our people have been preparing for about three months that they would come, but we didn’t have any solution;

“What made us suffer a great defeat was that we didn’t have good ammunition to fight. We don’t have money to buy good and modern ammunition and we don’t have the type of ammunition they are using.”

Similarly, the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Security Matters, Fatai Owoseni, while speaking on Channels Television on Monday, confirmed that the evicted Seriki Fulani sponsored the midnight massacre.

“The Igangan people tried their best, they fought back as much as they could and eliminated five of the assailants even when they were caught unawares in the dead of the night ; and the attack appears clearly a reprisal because two of the attackers who were killed were positively identified as the Seriki’s sons while one was identified as one of the sons of Wakili who is now in prison.”
