Today is black Sunday in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State as residents keep counting losses of the attack they had overnight.
Naija Banquet had reported how killer Fulani herdsmen came in large numbers, invaded the land, maimed and burnt properties worth millions of Naira to ashes in the small wee hours of Sunday, June 6, 2021.
According to witnesses, not fewer than 20 bodies have been found lying lifeless on the streets of Igangan. Some were shot multiple times in the chest while some were butchered to death.
Among the losses were the King’s Palace (Asigangan of Igangan Palace), Adolad filling station, a full truck with yam flour, about 10 pick-up trucks, Gas refilling station, business hubs, residential houses and others which were set ablaze by the Fulani terrorists.
An indigene told Naija Banquet that sporadic shooting lasted for about 5 hours. Local vigilantes could not repel the attack because “they (terrorists) came with automatic guns and bombs”.
Many residents fled their homes and businesses to nearby towns and forests to seek refuge in the midnight.
Security agents reportedly arrived Igangan lately after the mayhem had been unleashed on the inhabitants of Igangan.
Still, the atmosphere in Igangan is very tensed as residents are yet to come out of the shock.
