The Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunju, Aje Ogungunniso I has died at the age of 93.
Oba Saliu was born on 26 August 1928 and reigned between 4 March 2016 – 2 January 2022.
The news of the first class monarch came after the death of another prominent king, Soun of Ogbomoso–Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi that happened 22 days ago.
According to palace sources, Olubadan joined his ancestors in the early hours of Sunday 2, 2022.
the late king became the 41st Olubabadan of Ibadan after his coronation on March 4, 2016. Meanwhile, Oba Saliu Adetunji was the Balogun of Ibadan land before he was crowned as the Olubadan after the demise of his predecessor, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade.
As the first child of the 17 children of his parents, the late Olubadan delved into several menial jobs in other to survive in Lagos. One of such is fashion designing before he later joined the Fuji industry until 1960.
In 1960, the late king founded his first record label imprint named Baba Laje Records. he thereafter founded two other record label imprints that ushered in prominent Fuji stars like Wasiu Ayinde Marshsall and Dauda Epo-Akara.
Oba Saliu Adetunji was survived by wives and children.
