Commentary

The release of Buju (BNXN) “Kilometer” featuring Zinoleesky is just to tell us that we have not seen a glimpse of what these two artists have in stock for us.
As fast-growing artists, the duo won’t stop blessing us with super dope and impressive songs to vibe to in 2022.
There is something symbolic about the “Kilometer Remix.” As suggestive of the title of the song—Kilometer, it narrates how far the Buju (BNXN) and Zinoleesky have come in the Nigerian Music industry.
Anyone conversant with the industry will understand without any explanation how upcoming artists struggle to polish their art and find their voices.
But a close study of the lyrics to Buju’s Kilometer where Zinoleesky is featured exposes us to the music journey of the fast-rising artists.
A crispy sum of Buju’s lines in the Kilometer Remix lyrics is that he has come a long way and should therefore be paid in return for the sacrifices he has made.
Similarly, Zinoleesky believes that it is high time he lived the moment and enjoyed his life after all struggles as rendered in his verse of the lyrics to “Kilometer Remix.”
As one who relates to the story of these singers, the repeated appearance of the “ejo owo mi da” (please, where is my money?) lines are justifiable.
Who doesn’t like money? As much as it is worked for legitimately, one should not be deprived of one’s reward of labour.
On a more serious note however, Buju’s part of the lyrics to the Kilometer remix is more creatively and intellectually penned than Zinoleesky’s verse.
Save the melody of Zinoleesky though. He seems to deliver more than BNXN in Kilomter Remix. Like, he literally slaps off Buju off his song.
The general tune and mixagem of the song is top-notch and indeed a masterpiece. Truth is, the combined effort of the artistes and produces culminated in the biggest jam in town.
In all, it’s a job well done. Kudos!
