2022 will remain relevant in the Nigerian music industry because it has seen a long list of Nigerian songs trending and topping on international charts.

With the streak of 2022 records, it seems we are yet to see the best top trending Nigerian song of the year. So far, the records we have heard are nothing but amazing.

This is why I will be making a list of top trending songs in Nigeria in 2022 here in this post.

1. “Finesse” Pheelz feat Buju

Finesse by Pheelz featuring Buju (BNXN) is one of the most popular songs of 2022 in Nigeria.

What is incredible about this song is the fact that it went viral on the internet before its official release.

For example, Finesse snippet had a lot of repost on TikTok for several weeks with over 19 million views before a total shutdown of social media upon its uploading in March.

For a fact, Finesse has a high replay value because of its sweet melody. Also, the lyrics are simple and relatable to Nigerians.

Another fact about the song is that Pheelz and Buju shares an incredible vocal chemistry that keeps the listeners gushing over the song.

2. Asa “Good Times” feat. The Cavemen

Asa’s Good Times featuring the Cavemen is part of our top Nigerian songs in 2022 because of its lyricism and realism.

Apart from being one of the best Nigerian vocalists and stage performers, Asa is also a brilliant lyricists. She has a unique storytelling style which breathes life to all her songs.

4. Kizz Daniel “Buga” feat. Tekno

If you ask, what is the most popular Nigerian song in 2022? it is definitely Buga by Kizz Daniel.

The song happens to be the top trending song of the year due to its wide reception by music lovers all over the world.

People seem to like the song because of its simplicity, catchy lyrics and of course, its appealing melody. Since its release in May, Buga has been topping charts as the most shazamed song in the world.

Typically, Buga has made several Apple music list in 13 countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Chad, Uganda, Malawi and others unmentioned.

According to Kizz Daniel, the song was written to celebrate hard work and success. Interestingly, the artist launched a #Buga Challange on TikTok with a 1 million naira prize tag.

5. Davido “Stand Strong” ft. The Samples

Davido’s Stand Strong is the latest Nigerian song right now. It is also the hottest and best song in 2022 so far.

The reason is because of the touching story behind the lyrics to “Stand Strong” In this record, Davido talks about the ups and downs that he has experienced in life.

Apart from the fact that Stand Strong intimates us with the dark side of the Nigerian artist, the song also preaches the act of developing a right and positive attitude during hard times.

Speaking of its musicality, the appearance of The Samples Sunday Service Choir on the project played a huge role in the success of the song. The harmony and symphony they brought are incredible.

My Man is an ode to the lover of the song persona. Throughout the song, she keeps praising the good attributes of her man.

For instance, she says:

If however we must say what we find as most beautiful in the song, it is impressive delivery of the lyrics by Yemi Alade and Kranuim. Their vocal bond is also impressive.

7. Omah Lay “Woman”

Another top trending Nigerian song in 2022 is Woman by Omah Lay. The song makes the list of the best songs in the year because it so relatable to many Nigerians.

The intriguing lyrics, sexuality and melody in Woman makes it to stand out as one of the hottest songs we have seen this year.

Again, impressive act of the artist in the music video add up to the perfectness of the song. Omah Lay shows his ‘hot’ side in the video shoot.

Notable also is the fact that there is little or no sexual display in the official music video of Woman which is quite remarkable.

8. Mavins, Crayon, Ayra Starr, LADIPOE, Magixx & Boy Spyce – Overloading (OVERDOSE)

Overdose is a Nigerian song that features the young sign ups of Mavin records as well as the boss, Don Jazzy.

Although we know already that any release from Mavins is a hit, Overdose comes out as a very special song.

Upon its release the song took the internet by storm and got music fans gushing over the lyrics.

Aside from the melody dimensions that each of the artistes combined to make this top Nigerian song in 2022, their energy and vibes are also contagious.
